In the last T20I series against New Zealand, Bangladesh drew the three-match rubber 1-1 after winning the opening match in Napier. The second match got washed out and the hosts won the final T20I to level series in Mount Maunganui.

Whereas, Sri Lanka won the home T20I series against Afghanistan last month. The island nation clinched the series 2-1 after winning the first two matches of the series, which were played in Dambulla. Afghanistan won the third T20I by three runs in the thriller encounter.

Sri Lanka will be without their regular skipper Wanindu Hasaranga for the first two matches of the series due to ICC suspension for criticising the on-field umpire's decision in the third T20I against Afghanistan.

For the first two T20Is, Charith Asalanka will captain the side in the absence of Hasaranga, who will return for the final match of the series.

Opener Pathum Nissanka will also miss the series due to a hamstring injury and Avishka

Fernando replaced him in the squad.

On the other hand, Najmul Hossain Shanto will begin his leadership role for the first time after being named Bangladesh's all-format captain.
