Ruturaj Gaikwad Century: It is said that the true strength of a player can be known only in difficult situations. Ruturaj Gaikwad has once again proved his ability in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Under his captaincy, he has scored a surprising century for Maharashtra in the match against Goa. While playing the captaincy innings, he scored his century against Goa at a time when half of the Maharashtra team had returned to the pavilion for just 52 runs. Gaikwad not only took the Maharashtra team to a respectable score with a century but also broke the world record of Babar Azam.
Rituraj Gaikwad scored 134 runs facing 131 balls against Goa. During this he hit 8 fours and 6 sixes. This is his fifth plus score in the last 4 matches of the current season of Vijay Hazare Trophy. Before this, in the last 3 innings he has scored 124 runs, 66 runs and 22 runs. This is the 20th century of his List A career. He has more than half centuries in his List A career. He has scored 19 half-centuries. Rituraj Gaikwad completed his 5000 runs in List A cricket during this innings.
Rituraj has become the fastest batsman in the world to achieve the feat of 5000 runs in List A cricket. This world record in List A cricket was earlier in the name of Babar Azam. Pakistan's Babar Azam scored his 5000 runs in List A after playing 97 innings. But, Rituraj Gaikwad made this record by playing 2 innings less than Babar. But, his start was not as expected. 6 batsmen of Maharashtra were out for only 52 runs. In such a situation, team captain Rituraj Gaikwad not only handled one end but also scored a century by playing a fighting innings. Thanks to his century, Maharashtra managed to score 249 runs for 7 wickets in 50 overs.
