Former Windies pacer Ian Bishop has silenced all social media trolls. Bishop immediately brought attention to the fact that some supporters consistently credit Gautam Gambhir for KKR’s triumph over LSG and Shreyas Iyer for the team’s defeat. In response to criticism of Shreyas Iyer made by some of his followers on Twitter, Bishop confronted them and cut them off.
After a year away, the middle-order batter from India rejoined the KKR team. Iyer’s back issue prevented him from playing for KKR in 2023. With eight victories from their eleven games, KKR is presently leading the Indian Premier League points standings under Iyer’s direction. This season, the KKR are almost guaranteed a spot in the playoffs.
After KKR’s win against LSG, Bishop took Twitter and asked fans about slamming KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer or focus on the big win against LSG. Instead, a large number of supporters went out to criticize Shreyas, claiming that Gautam Gambhir was the one who had changed the franchise’s course.
Although KKR has performed admirably as a unit this season, Shreyas Iyer’s performance has been patchy. The player, who was cut from India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad, would be looking to bounce back strongly in the white-ball formats. Shreyas was rested from the Indian Test team prior to the IPL because of his consistent struggles in Tests.
