Vaibhav Suryavanshi in South Africa: Vaibhav Suryavanshi had made an amazing world record in the very first ODI of the series in South Africa, when he entered it as captain. Vaibhav Suryavanshi then became the youngest captain in the world to captain the Under-19 team. Now when the ODI series started with a world record, then why not end it by breaking the world record? Vaibhav Suryavanshi's intention is something similar. He can achieve this feat by leading India Under 19 to victory in the last ODI against South Africa Under 19 team.
Under 19 teams of India and South Africa are going to play the third and last ODI match of the series on 7 January. The world record for which Vaibhav Suryavanshi will be seen posing a threat in this match was made 13 years ago. The amazing thing is that even 13 years ago i.e. in the year 2012, the person who made that record was an Indian. Now Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who came very close to breaking it, is also an Indian.
Now the question is, which world record was made 13 years ago? He is associated with the world record of becoming the youngest captain to clean sweep the Under 19 ODI bilateral series.
In the year 2012, the then captain of India Under 19 Unmukt Chand had made a clean sweep in the 5 ODI series against Australia Under 19 team. Meaning, that series was won 5-0 by India Under 19 under the captaincy of Unmukt. When Unmukt Chand won the ODI series 5-0 against Australia Under-19 team in 2012, he was 17 years old and became the youngest captain to clean sweep the Under-19 ODI bilateral series.
But, now Vaibhav Suryavanshi can break that record of Unmukt Chand.Under the captaincy of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, India Under-19 team has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead by winning the first two matches of the 3-ODI series. Now if they win the third and last match against South Africa Under-19 team, then they will capture the series 3-0. Meaning it will clean sweep the series. With this, 14 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi will become the youngest captain in the world to clean sweep the Under 19 ODI bilateral series.
