Shreyas Iyer scored 82 runs in 53 balls. His innings included 10 fours and 3 sixes. This match was special for him because he was playing competitive cricket for the first time after a serious injury in October 2025. He had to stay away from the field for a long time due to a spleen injury suffered in the third ODI against Australia.
After the injury, Shreyas also had to be admitted to ICU in Sydney. He was given a short treatment there. After this, under the supervision of BCCI’s medical team, he did his final practice for about ten days at the Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. After fitness test he was allowed to play.
Mumbai did not have a good start in the match. The team had lost two wickets in eight overs. After this Shreyas made a quick partnership with Musheer Khan for the third wicket. Later, he also added important runs with Suryakumar Yadav and put the team in a strong position. He missed the century and was out on 82 runs.
