Devdutt Padikkal failed to score a fifth century in six games, but Karnataka defeated Rajasthan by 150 runs to secure a spot in the quarter-finals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, he managed to complete 600 runs in the ongoing season.

He scripted a record, becoming the first Indian batter to accumulate 600 runs or more in three Vijay Hazare Trophy seasons. This achievement was not even recorded by Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma.

In 38 innings, Padikkal is averaging 83.62 in List A cricket, laced with 13 hundreds and 13 fifties. The sixth match in Group A was a one-sided contest for Karnataka as captain Mayank Agarwal (100 off 107 balls) struck his second century of the tournament, while Padikkal (91 off 82 balls) missed his fifth hundred by 9 runs. Karnataka scored 324 for 7 in the allotted 50 overs.

India pacer Prasidh Krishna took five wickets as Rajasthan were dismissed for 174 in 38 overs. Karnataka have registered six consecutive wins and is leading the group with 24 points, while Kerala, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh are second on 16 points. They are separated by a net run-rate.

Tamil Nadu and Tripura are in fifth and sixth spots with eight points each. Padikkal has been unstoppable in the ongoing season, and his performances are the reason behind the success of the team. He shared a 184-run stand with skipper Mayank.

Mayank hit nine fours and three sixes in his knock.

On the other hand, Rajasthan lost their fifth game with Prasidh’s bowling scripting their downfall.
