Bangladesh Cricket Board’s request to shift their ICC T20 World Cup 2026 matches from India to Sri Lanka is likely to be rejected by the International Cricket Council. Bangladesh recently wrote to the ICC, urging the apex body to take their matches outside India, citing security concerns.
According to ESPNcricinfo, the ICC will ask Bangladesh to follow the previously announced schedule. This would mean Bangladesh will have to complete their group-stage matches in Kolkata and Mumbai and will not be allowed to play in Sri Lanka, a venue they were looking at after tensions between the two countries.
The Indian Cricket Board and the Bangladesh Cricket Board are at loggerheads after Mustafizur Rahman was released from the Kolkata Knight Riders squad.
The BCB convened an emergency meeting to discuss the matter. Bangladesh refused to play in India and urged the ICC to allot them a different venue.
