According to media reports, this notice was issued on Monday (January 5). In this, both the brothers have been summoned in a case to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list which started in West Bengal on December 16 last year.

Shami and his brother were asked to appear before the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) at Kartju Nagar School, located in Jadavpur area of ​​South Kolkata. But Shami could not reach Rajkot due to being busy in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match for West Bengal.

According to media reports, Shami’s name is registered as a voter in ward number 93 of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC). India Today report states that this ward falls in Rash Behari assembly constituency. Shami was born in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, but has been a permanent resident of Kolkata for a long time.

Quoting Election Commission sources, the report said that many problems to genealogy mapping and self-mapping have come to light in the voter census form of Shami and his younger brother Kaif. For this reason his name was included in the hearing list. Both will have to appear before AERO and present their documentary evidence.

Let us tell you that the West Bengal government has raised questions on conducting SIR (Special Intensive Revision) in the state. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had written a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar regarding this matter.

In the letter, Mamata Banerjee said, “This process has been described as time-bound, but no clear, transparent and applicable timeline has emerged. Different states are adopting different criteria and timelines are being changed arbitrarily, which shows a serious lack of clarity, preparation and understanding of the process.”
