Desk : India’s ODI and Test captain Shubman Gill practiced ahead of Punjab’s Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Goa at the KL Saini Stadium on Tuesday. Gill could not take part in the match against Sikkim on Saturday last week due to food poisoning, but now he has fully recovered and is likely to play against Goa.
There have also been injuries for Gill in the last few months. He played just three balls in the first Test match against South Africa in Kolkata last year and was ruled out of the Test series due to a neck injury. After this he did not play in the rest of the series. Then, he suffered a toe injury during the T20I series against South Africa last month, which ruled him out of the T20 World Cup.
However, now Gill is completely healthy and has started preparing to play the match for Punjab against Goa after recovering from his food poisoning.
In a picture posted on Instagram by the Punjab Cricket Association (PCB), Shubman Gill and his team can be seen in a net session ahead of the match against Goa.
Despite the absence of Gill, the Punjab team performed brilliantly against Sikkim and won the match by 10 wickets. Fielding first against Sikkim, Punjab’s bowling attack, in which Arshdeep Singh was a major contributor, completely negated Sikkim’s batting. Arshdeep took five wickets for 34 runs and bowled out Sikkim for 75 runs in just 22.2 overs.
Punjab batsmen again achieved the target in just 6.2 overs. Prabhsimran Singh scored an unbeaten half century of 53 runs off 26 balls, giving Punjab an easy win.
