New Delhi (ANI): Former West Indies cricketer and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star Dwayne Bravo recalled a memorable incident with Mahendra Singh Dhoni during the 2018 IPL season, when Dhoni expressed his confidence in his bowling and addressed him as “bhaiya”. During this, Dhoni had told Bravo that his four overs of bowling are more important for the team, rather than him diving to save four runs while fielding.

Bravo spoke about this on the ‘Beard Before Wicket’ podcast, where he praised Dhoni’s leadership and how Dhoni gave him complete confidence in his role. Bravo said, “In 2018 when we were returning from the ban, I once dived for a ball while fielding at long-on. Then Dhoni called me and said, ‘Don’t ever dive on my cricket field. Your four overs are more important than saving four runs.’ When he said this, I was surprised.”

He further added, “After that, I started fielding in the circle. This was the way Dhoni used to follow, he knew what you were good at, and you just had to focus on that. He always inspired you to be the best in that work.”

Apart from Dhoni, Bravo is the head coach of CSK. Stephen Fleming Also appreciated the leadership. He said that both gave players complete freedom to play with their individual style and unique character. They never judge the performance of any player. Whether you perform today or not, they are always the same, that’s the specialty of that franchise.

CSK Talking about the performance of last season, the team had won just four out of 14 matches and had to face defeat in 10 matches, but Bravo described the leadership of Dhoni and Fleming as positive for the team.
