Overview:
Bangladesh’s interim government has instructed the Bangladesh Cricket Board to seek a change of venue for the team’s ICC T20 World Cup 2026 matches from India to Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman entered the record books as the left-arm pacer became the fastest seamer to complete 400 wickets in T20 cricket. He was recently removed from the Indian Premier League 2026. The 35-year-old scripted the milestone during a BPL match against the Sylhet Titans at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Playing for Rangpur Riders, Mustafizur registered figures of 4-0-24-3 to help his team win the contest by six wickets. He reached the landmark by dismissing Mehidy Hasan Miraz and later sent back Afif Hossain Dhrubo and Khaled Ahmed to the dressing room.
On Saturday, Kolkata Knight Riders released Mustafizur from their squad at the instruction of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The three-time champions confirmed the move on social media, saying that it followed the directive issued by the BCCI, as it is the governing body of the IPL.
Earlier, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia opened up on the development. He said KKR were asked to part ways with the Bangladeshi player, while adding that the board will allow the franchise to sign a replacement player.
Mustafizur was signed by KKR for Rs 9.20 crore at the IPL 2026 mini-auction last month. The move was questioned by some politicians and religious groups. Reaction to his exit, Mustafizur said he can’t do anything.

Sports adviser Asif Nazrul said that the BCB would formally approach the ICC.
