Alastair Cook has opened up about the possibility of coaching the England Test team in the future. Former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum is the current coach of the English team but they have failed to qualify for the final of the World Test Championship under his tenure.
Michael Atherton feels Cook could replace McCullum. While Cook refused to comment on his candidature, he indicated that he would like to make an impact on English cricket.
“The article should have been of 800 words. Mike Atherton wrote 600 words and used the last 200 to throw something in,” Cook said while speaking on TNT Sports.
“I would like to be involved with the England cricket team and make a difference,” he added.
The 41-year-old revealed that he has not been contacted by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) regarding coaching assignment.
“I don’t know about the future but the posts are occupied with people giving their services in different roles. There has been zero contact,” he mentioned.
