Exciting matches are being seen in Australia's T20 league, BBL, where dominance of some teams is seen. Melbourne Stars, who are waiting for their first title, have started this season with a bang and have won 4 consecutive matches. But as soon as the new year started, he had to face defeat in 2 consecutive matches. The second defeat was more painful for them because it came at the hands of their local rivals Melbourne Renegades. That too in this style, where a Renegades captain defeated the Stars captain in the last over.
on sunday 4th january BBL 2025-26 The first 'Melbourne Derby' of the season took place, in which there was a tough competition between these two teams from the same city. The stars batted first under the captaincy of Marcus Stoinis. This team scored 173 runs by losing 9 wickets in its 20 overs, in which number eight batsman Tom Curran scored the most runs and played the fastest innings. This English all-rounder scored 38 runs in just 18 balls, due to which the team was able to reach this score. For Renegades, Gurinder Sandhu took 4 wickets for 41 runs in 4 overs.
After this, it was the turn of Renegades and for them, opener Josh Brown scored a quick half-century. It seemed that Brown would score his century but he was out on the score of 84 runs in the 15th over. But from here suddenly the fall of wickets started and the Renegades' innings got into trouble. The team needed 13 runs in the last over and here Renegades captain Will Sutherland took charge.

In front of Sutherland was Stars captain Stoinis, who was bowling the last over. Sutherland made the task a bit easier by hitting a six on the very first ball of this over. He got 4 more runs on the next 3 balls. Now Renegades needed 3 runs in the last 2 balls but Sutherland did not give the Stars a chance to make a comeback and gave the team victory by hitting a six on the fifth ball.
This was only the second win for the Renegades in 5 matches, while it was the second consecutive win for the Stars, who started the season with 4 consecutive wins. After this victory, Renegades captain Sutherland was given a strange trophy, which has been named 'Melbourne Mace'. This trophy was given for the first time in BBL and from now on it will be given to the winning captain in every 'Melbourne Derby'.
