Match affected due to sky disaster in South Africa (Photo-PTI)
You might have seen matches getting canceled due to rain, storm, fog and smog, but something happened in the sky in South Africa due to which one match got canceled and the other match had to be stopped. The 11th match of SA20 was to be held between Joburg Super Kings and Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the South African city of Johannesburg, but the match was canceled due to lightning and thunder in the sky. There was a toss in this match but the umpires decided to cancel the match in view of the bad weather.
Not only in Johannesburg but in Benoni also the match had to be stopped due to lightning. Team India was fielding when this incident happened. South Africa had lost 4 wickets for 148 runs. But then the umpires told captain Vaibhav Suryavanshi that it is not right to play during lightning and then all the players were asked to go to a safe place.
Unfortunately, inclement weather has had the final say in this one 🌧️ Ticketpro will initiate the refund process.

Let us tell you that there have been deaths on the playground due to lightning. On January 24, 2024, a local cricket match was going on in New South Wales and suddenly lightning struck, killing 31-year-old David Evans. Evans had come to bat and suddenly lightning hit his helmet. The electric shock was so strong that he died on the spot, and even created a big crater in the field. 6-7 players were also injured in this.
This is the reason why whenever the weather is bad, the match referee or umpire thinks it is right to stop the match, a similar decision was taken in South Africa.
