West Indies are the host nation of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament will be played in June and the United States of America will also organise some of the matches. Windies have won the trophy twice but the team hasn’t been at its best in the last few seasons. However, the situation could change this time as matches will be contested in the home territory.

Meanwhile, Sunil Narine has refused to come out of retirement to play for the team. The all-rounder is in magnificent touch with the bat and ball in the Indian Premier League 2024. He has scored over 400 runs, with the help of 1 hundred and 3 fifties. Narine has also taken 14 wickets.

Meanwhile, former India player Varun Aaron has given an important suggestion to the West Indies Cricket Board. According to him, the two-time champions should appoint Gautam Gambhir as their mentors.

“West Indies should bring Gautam Gambhir on board as their mentor. He is the only person who can convince Sunil Narine to come out of retirement. Narine has been amazing in this season and he can help the West Indies in the T20 World Cup,” Varun Aaron said on Star Sports.

Rovman Powell, who will lead the Windies in the World Cup, spoke to Narine about his chances of playing for the team. However, the veteran refused. Sunil also made a statement after the speculations about his possible return, refuting all the stories. He clearly said no to any such possibility.
