Indian cricket veterans Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will not participate in the upcoming fourth round of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, scheduled for Wednesday. Mumbai will face Goa at the Jaipuria Vidyalaya Ground in Jaipur, while Delhi will take on Odisha at the KSCA Cricket Ground in Alur. Despite the absence of these star players, both matches are expected to showcase some exciting cricket.

Both seasoned players participated in the first two rounds of the domestic one-day competition but were rested in the last round. Now, they will miss another game as India prepares for the upcoming home ODI series against New Zealand.

Rohit Sharma’s stint in the Vijay Hazare Trophy has come to an end. The Mumbai batter had initially planned to appear in just two matches and has stuck to that commitment. With India set to begin a three-match ODI series against New Zealand on January 11, Rohit will not take part in any additional domestic fixtures. The workload management of the former Indian captain remains a key focus as he prepares for a busy international season ahead.

In contrast to Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli is ready to make one final appearance for Delhi in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. Kohli will feature n the match against Railways on January 6 at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Rohan Jaitley, the President of the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association, has confirmed that Kohli will be available for the fixture.

“At the moment, he is playing. Virat has confirmed his availability for all three matches,” Jaitley told PTI.

The BCCI requires centrally contracted players to take part in at least two matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Virat Kohli has chosen to feature in a third match, using the opportunity to fine-tune his form ahead of the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand.

According to a BCCI insider, the members of the Indian ODI team are expected to gather in Vadodara by January 8. Virat Kohli may arrive a day ahead to begin his preparations. The three-match ODI series against New Zealand will commence at the same venue on January 11.
