Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders have made IPL 2024 a sensation. KKR have almost sealed their place in the playoffs. KKR defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 98 runs in match 54 of IPL 2024 today Sunday (May 5) and entered the playoffs.

Kolkata team has won 8 out of 11 matches so far. With this, they have now overtaken Rajasthan Royals to take the top spot in the points table. On the other hand, the Lucknow team has won 6 out of 11 matches so far. With this, the team has fallen to the fifth position in the points table.

Earlier, in this match, Kolkata lost the toss and were given a target of 236 runs while batting first. In reply, Lucknow was bowled out for 137 runs in 16.1 overs.

Marcus Stoinis top scored for Lucknow with 36 runs and skipper KL Rahul scored 25 runs. Apart from this, not a single batsman could reach the figure of 20 runs. Harshit Rana and Varun Chakraborty took 3 wickets each for Kolkata. Andre Russell got 2 wickets.

KKR's innings

KKR had a strong start in this match. Sunil Narine and Phil Salt put on a 61-run partnership for the first wicket which was broken by Naveen-ul-Haq. He knocked Salt out. He was dismissed for 32 runs.

Narine played a powerful innings of 81 runs. In between, 6 fours and 7 sixes came from his bat. Ravi Bishnoi made him his victim. The third blow to the team came in the form of Andre Russell. Naveen-ul-Haq made him a prey. He could score only 12 runs.

After this, Yudhvir Singh hunted Angkrish Raghuvanshi. He returned with a knock of 32 runs off 26 balls. In this match, Rinku Singh scored 16 runs, Shreyas Iyer scored 23 runs, Ramandeep Singh scored 25 runs.

Ramandeep and Venkatesh remained unbeaten. Navin-ul-Haq took 3 wickets from Lucknow. While Yash Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi and Yudhveer Singh got one wicket each.
