NEW DELHI: India won the toss and chose to bowl against Sri Lanka in the third women’s T20 International of the five match series on Friday.
With conditions expected to assist the bowlers early and dew likely later in the evening, the hosts opted to put the visitors in first.
India made two changes to the playing XI, bringing back Renuka Singh Thakur and Deepti Sharma. Sneh Rana and Arundhati Reddy have been rested for the game.
India currently lead the series 2-0 and will be aiming to seal it with another win.
India captain Harmanpreet Kaur spoke about the changes in the side and the team’s approach.
“We want to be more aggressive in the powerplay so Renuka is back, Deepti is also back. Sneh and Arundhati are resting. This is an important match and a great opportunity to seal the series, so we need to play with confidence and enjoy our cricket,” Harmanpreet added.
Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Athapaththu highlighted the importance of giving youngsters exposure.
“We have a young group and this is a good platform for them to show their talent. Every game is a learning opportunity, especially with the World Cup coming up. It’s a good chance for us to play positive cricket,” she added.
