Cameron Green has confirmed that he will be available to bowl in IPL 2026, clarifying that his listing as a batter rather than an allrounder at Tuesday’s auction was the result of a registration error by his manager.

The 26-year-old, who has previously represented Mumbai Indians in 2023 and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2024, missed the 2025 season while recovering from back surgery. He returned to international cricket in June as a specialist batter, but has since been cleared to bowl and has been used as a full allrounder by Australia in the ongoing Ashes series.

Despite being entered into the auction as a batter with a base price of Rs. 2 crore, Green is widely expected to be the most expensive buy in Abu Dhabi. Some projections suggest he could challenge or even surpass the Rs 27 crore record set by Rishabh Pant at last year’s auction. Kolkata Knight Riders, which holds the largest purse, is considered favourite to secure his services. Green is scheduled to be among the first six players to go under the hammer.

Speaking ahead of Australia’s training session in Adelaide, Green explained how the mix-up occurred.

“I’ll be good to bowl,” he said. “I don’t know if my manager would like to hear this, but there was a stuff-up on his end. He didn’t mean to say ‘batter’. I think he accidentally selected the wrong box. It’s pretty funny how it’s all played out, but it was actually a stuff-up on his end.”
