Ishan Kishan's mother Suchitra Singh could not control her emotions while speaking about her son's selection in India's 2026 T20 World Cup squad.

Kishan's mother was asked abiut her feelings after she knowing that her son got selected in India's squad for the mega event. As she began to speak, she moved to tears immediately while recalling the moment.

"Nothing much, I just worshipped God. Tears started falling from my eyes after looking at God. My son has worked extremely hard, and he has completely deserved this call-up," commented Suchitra while speaking to News18.

Kishan recently led Jharkhand to their maiden title in the 2025 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The left-handed batter ended as the leading run-scorer, registering 517 runs in 10 matches at a blistering strike rate of 197.32 with two fifties and as many hundreds to his name.

For the unversed, Kishan was removed from the BCCI annual retainership list in early 2024 after not appearing for Jharkhand in domestic cricket despite the board deeming it necessary for all cricketers when away from international cricket duties.

Kishan last played for India in 2023 and was not considered in the reckoning ever since. However, he did not lose hope and went back to domestic cricket to prove himself. As far as the mega event for next year is concerned, Kishan is set to be Sanju Samson's backup for the opening and wicketkeeping slot.
