Shubman Gill-Sunil Gavaskar: Shubman Gill was the vice-captain of the Indian T20 team till the T20 series against South Africa. But, now he is neither the vice-captain nor a part of India's T20 team. Shubman Gill is out of the team selected by BCCI for T20 World Cup 2026 and T20 series against New Zealand. But, the advice given by Sunil Gavaskar and these things have nothing to do with it. Because, Gavaskar had given advice to Gill even before he was dropped from Team India and became the vice-captain.

What advice did Sunil Gavaskar give to Gill?

Sunil Gavaskar was analyzing the announcement of Team India for T20 World Cup 2026 on Star Sports. During that time, he mentioned his meeting with Shubman Gill in the flight. He told that he and Shubhman were traveling in the same flight from Ahmedabad. Gavaskar said that he is a class player. In such a situation, I don't like to see him missing games due to injury or being out of form. Shubman Gill troubled by injury and form

Shubman Gill was ruled out of the fourth T20 against South Africa due to foot injury. After that he did not even score runs in that series. Gill scored only 32 runs in 3 innings of 3 T20 matches played in the series. Gavaskar did not expect such a poor performance from a class player like Gill.
