Faf du Plessis won the toss and invited Gujarat to bat first. However, they were bowled out for 147 runs, with Mohammed Siraj (2/29), and Yash Dayal (2/21) doing the maximum damage. Chasing 148, Virat Kohli (42 runs) and Faf du Plessis (64 runs) stitched a partnership of 92 runs in 5.5 overs.
Despite losing six wickets, the Bengaluru-based franchise won the game by 4 wickets with more than 6 overs to spare.
“It was good to see the performance of the RCB bowlers. This was the most problematic area for Bengaluru. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis played well and scored important runs for the team. RCB are fortunately getting match-winning performances from different players. It will be tough for them to qualify for the playoffs but the doors are not fully closed. They have been removed from the ventilator but they’re still in the ICU,” Ajay Jadeja said on JioCinema.
“Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis batted differently against Gujarat Titans. They pressed the attacking button from the start. I haven’t seen RCB batters hitting the first ball of their innings for a six. Faf was more attacking when there was no need. However, he didn’t stop. There was some excitement when RCB lost six wickets but there was no way Gujarat Titans would’ve won the game,” he added.
