Trains and flights canceled and delayed:Lucknow. Winter has reached its peak in Uttar Pradesh. Dense fog has been prevalent in many parts of the state for the last two days, due to which road, rail and air traffic is being badly affected. Rail services remained affected in Chandauli due to severe cold and dense fog. Due to very low visibility on the Delhi-Howrah rail route, about two dozen trains including half a dozen Rajdhani Express got delayed. Many trains are running late by 2 to 12 hours, due to which passengers have to wait for a long time at DDU railway station.

Air services also affected

The effect of dense fog was also seen on air traffic. Two flights each of Indigo and Air India operating from Lucknow airport to Delhi were canceled on Thursday. Due to cancellation of flights, passengers faced difficulty in making alternative arrangements.

• Kaifiyat Express – 6 hours 30 minutes late
• Chandigarh-Lucknow Superfast – more than 6 hours late
• Many other trains arrived late by 1 to 2 hours

Due to dense fog, the administration and railways have appealed to the passengers to be cautious and check the status of trains and flights before travelling.
