Yashasvi Jaiswal was hospitalised after experiencing severe stomach cramps during Mumbai's Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Rajasthan in Pune. During the last couple of days, he had been losing weight rapidly. While the initial impression was that he was suffering from a normal stomach bug, tests diagnosed him with acute gastroenteritis.
Fans had expressed concerns about his well-being and prayed for his speedy recovery. On Friday, December 19, the left-handed batter took to social media to provide an important update about his health status.
Yashasvi said that he was recovering well, thanks to the treatment he has been getting from the doctors and medical staff.
He also acknowledged the overwhelming support and good wishes he has been getting from his fans and vowed to get back to the field soon."Just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for the overwhelming good wishes over the last few days. I’m recovering well, grateful for the fantastic medical support, and looking forward to being back on the field soon!" Yashasvi posted on 'X' (formerly Twitter).
This positive update will give the cricket fraternity huge relief ahead of India's three-match ODI series against New Zealand.
Yashasvi is expected to be a part of the side, despite Shubman Gill returning to the line-up. In the absence of Gill, Yashasvi got to play all three matches against South Africa. After failing to impress in the first two ODIs, the 23-year-old slammed an unbeaten century in the third in Visakhapatnam, helping India win the series. The three ODIs against the Kiwis will be played on January 11, 14, and 18, in Vadodara, Rajkot, and Indore, respectively.
