ILT20: The player on whom Kavya Maran spent Rs 13 crore in the IPL auction held in Abu Dhabi on 16 December, proved that the bet placed on him was not in vain by playing a match-winning innings in just 48 balls on the same day. The big thing is that that player proved himself in Abu Dhabi itself. We are talking about Liam Livingston, who played a strong innings for his team Abu Dhabi Knight Riders against Desert Vipers on 16 December in the International League T20 match.
England all-rounder Liam Livingston, who came to bat first in the match, scored so many runs for his team that it became their second highest score this season.
Livingston, coming at number four in the T20 played in Abu Dhabi, scored 76 runs in just 48 balls. During this innings played with a strike rate of more than 158, he hit 9 balls outside the boundary. Meaning, he crossed the boundary through sixes and fours. Livingston hit 6 fours and 3 sixes.The result of this explosive inning of Liam Livingston was that his team Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, playing first, scored 181 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs.
In reply, Desert Vipers, chasing the target of 182 runs, ended at 180 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs and lost the match by 1 run.Liam Livingston is the same player for whom Kavya Maran opened her safe. However, he was not sold in the first round of IPL 2026 auction. But, when his name came up for the second time, teams from KKR, Hyderabad, Lucknow and Gujarat rushed to buy him.
KKR had started the bidding on Livingston.
Then Gujarat also jumped into it. But in the end the real fight took place between Lucknow and Hyderabad. LSG went up to Rs 12.8 crore to buy him, Sunrisers Hyderabad closed the deal for Rs 13 crore.
