Varanasi. In the districts of Purvanchal including the religious city of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, a blanket of dense fog remained from ground to sky till 8.30 am on Monday. Due to dense fog on the roads, the distance of even a few steps was visible blurry. As per the warning of the Meteorological Department, fog started appearing from Saturday evening. The fog became denser as the night progressed. Small children were seen sulking while going to school in the morning in dense fog and cold weather. At the same time, parents were seen forcibly taking many children to school.

The speed of vehicles also slowed down due to dense fog. By 8 o’clock in the morning, four-wheeler drivers were seen moving with fog lights on, while bike drivers were facing difficulty in driving. According to meteorologists of BHU, there is no possibility of any change in the weather in the coming days. Western disturbance is becoming active in the western Himalayan regions. Due to this, easterly wind will blow and it will remain cloudy. The minimum temperature may increase by 2–3 degrees in the coming three days. Despite this, fog may become denser in Purvanchal. After snowfall in the mountains, melting will increase in the plains.

At 10 am on Monday, the maximum temperature in Varanasi was 21 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 12 degrees Celsius. Visibility was zero percent and humidity was 54 percent. In the last 24 hours, the maximum temperature was recorded at 23.4 degrees Celsius, which was 1.1 degrees less than normal. The minimum temperature was 10.1 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, despite the dense fog, a crowd of tourists was seen at the Ganga Ghats. In the morning, amid the noise of Siberian birds, people kept sailing in the Ganga and feeding them. Sailors Dinesh Manjhi and Pappu Sahni of Meerghat told that in such weather there is an influx of foreign tourists on the banks of Ganga. Tourists take a tour of Ganga and see the view of Banaras in the morning and also capture it in their cameras. In order to earn a living, we also start preparing to operate the boat early in the morning.
