Squash World Cup 2025: The Indian Squash team has created history and won the title of Squash World Cup 2025. India won this trophy for the first time by defeating Hong Kong in the final match played on Sunday at Express Avenue Mall, Chennai. 17 year old Anahat Singh put the final seal on this historic success of India by winning the decisive match.

This is India’s first Squash World Cup title. Earlier, India’s best performance was a bronze medal in the 2023 edition. The second-seeded Indian team did not lose a single match in the entire tournament, which shows its excellent rhythm and dominance.

The performance of the Indian team in the group stage was excellent. India defeated Switzerland and Brazil 4-0. After this, India entered the final by defeating South Africa in the quarter-finals and two-time champion Egypt 3-0 in the semi-finals.

In the final match, experienced player Joshna Chinappa gave a great start to India. In women’s singles, she defeated world number 37 Li Ka Yi 3-1. After this, in men’s singles, India’s top ranked player Abhay Singh defeated Alex Lau 3-0 and gave India a 2-0 lead.

In the title match, 17 year old Anahat Singh performed brilliantly under pressure. She defeated world No. 31 Tomato Ho 3-0 to ensure a historic win for India. After this there was no need to play the final match of men’s singles.

With this victory, India became the fourth country to win the Squash World Cup after Australia, England and Egypt. This tournament was held in Chennai for the third consecutive time. It is noteworthy that squash is going to make its debut in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
