A match-fixing case has come to light in Indian domestic cricket, following which four players have been suspended. This controversy over fixing is linked to the Assam team. In fact, the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has suspended Amit Sinha, Eshan Ahmed, Aman Tripathi, and Abhishek Thakuri for allegedly attempting match-fixing during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025.
An FIR has also been registered against them at the Guwahati Crime Branch on Friday, December 12. However, these players were not directly involved in match-fixing while playing matches. Instead, they allegedly tried to instigate and influence other players from the team.
The Assam Cricket Association stated that all four players have represented Assam at different levels. They are accused of attempting to influence and provoke some members of the Assam squad participating in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025, held in Lucknow from November 26 to December 8.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) remained in contact with the Assam Cricket Association regarding the incident. BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) also conducted its own investigation. Following this, the ACA initiated criminal proceedings against the four cricketers.
