Former Indian chief selector MSK Prasad was not happy with the decision of not selecting KL Rahul and Rinku Singh for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Apart from this, KL Rahul also could not be selected in the World Cup team. BCCI selected Sanju Samson in his place in the team.

Prasad said, “I may sound biased but KL (Rahul) is a guy who can fit into any role. Probably, the selectors took into account Sanju's recent form in the IPL. Personally, I think KL can do the job so far, both with the bat and behind the wicket. Took excellent catches and started leading the team very well. I think the formation was right except for the extra spinner. I felt KL deserved a place.”

While Rinku Singh was not selected, Prasad said, “The selectors were very clear that the wickets will help the spinners during the second half of the summer in the Caribbean and the United States. I think that's the reason behind selecting an additional spinner, Axar Patel.” That's the only reason why Rinku was not taken. Look, if you look at the players who fit the role of finisher, I think there is no one better than Rinku. “It's a bit unfortunate and difficult to digest the fact that Rinku has been ignored.”
