Shubman Gill’s T20 form is once again in the news. After returning to the T20 team as the vice-captain of Team India, runs are not coming out of his bat continuously. In the second T20 against South Africa, he was out on the very first ball, whereas in the first match of the series he could score only four runs. Not only this, in the last 14 T20 matches, only 263 runs have come from Gill’s bat, due to which the criticism is increasing.
Amidst these criticisms, Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra clearly denied being concerned about Gill’s form. Nehra said that it is not right to judge a player after seeing two-three matches in a fast format like T20.
Speaking to news agency PTI, Nehra said, “Even if the IPL was three weeks away, I would not have been worried. We are talking about the T20 format. There have been only two matches and if we judge every player in 2-3 matches, it will be difficult. You have many options, but making changes on every bad statistic is not the right way.”
The coach of Gujarat Titans did not stop here. He also praised another player of the team, Washington Sundar. Nehra completely rejected the rumors of transfer regarding Sundar.
Nehra said, “Washington Sundar has the complete package. He can bat at any number from 1 to 6-7. Playing in all three formats will increase his confidence further. He has also done brilliantly with the new ball in bowling. He is not a finished product yet, will improve further.”
Apart from this, Nehra also said that due to the team combination last year, Sundar did not get many opportunities, but he is expected to play more matches in the next season.
While leaving, also know that Gujarat Titans is currently busy preparing for IPL 2026. Gujarat has a purse of Rs 12.9 crore for the IPL 2026 mini auction to be held in Abu Dhabi on December 16 and the team can buy only a maximum of 5 players.
