A solid knock from Beth Mooney and Alana King’s bowling brilliance has secured Perth Scorchers a berth in the Finals at Sydney.
After Mooney’s 76-run knock set up the Scorchers to 183 runs in their innings, Alana King’s spell helped Sophie Devine’s side to secure an 11-run victory in the Challenger of the WBBL 2025 at Sydney.
Batting first, Katie Mack and Beth Mooney made a solid start scoring 66 runs for the first wicket. With Mack’s dismissal for 40 runs, Devine lost her wicket for 7 runs.
Despite other batters lost their wickets at regular intervals, Beth Mooney made a solid knock smashing her fifty and continued her onfield slaughter.
Beth Mooney went on to score 76 runs before losing her wicket to Maitlan Brown. Perth Scorchers went on to score 183 runs in their 20 over innings. Ash Gardner bagged three wickets while, Maitlan Brown and Amelia Kerr bagged two wickets each.
Lauren Cheattle completed her spell with 1 wicket. Chasing 184 run target, Sophie Dunkley and Ellyse Perry made a decent start scoring 58 runs for the 1st wicket.
Alana King bagged the wicket of Ellyse Perry for 29 runs while Alyssa Healy got dismissed cheaply for 1 run, Ash Gardner and Amelia Kerr added up 26 and 42 runs.
Maitlan Brown copped up 14 runs, however Sydney Sixers did score only 172 runs in their 20 over innings and lost the game.
Alana King picked three wickets while Chloe Ainsworth, Ruby Strange and Lilly Mills bagged 1 wicket each.
Beth Mooney was named as the Player of the Match after her impressive knock of 76 runs off 44 deliveries which included 11 fours and 1 sixes.
Perth Scorchers advanced to the finals and will be meet Hobart Hurricanes in the summit clash of the WBBL 2025 on December 13 at Ninja Stadium, Hobart.
