Peake’s elevation to captaincy is a result of his rapid rise since the 2024 edition in South Africawhere he made a significant impact despite joining the team as an injury replacement.

His 120 runs from four innings—including a crucial unbeaten 46 in the final against India—showcased his composure under pressure and big-match temperament.

The 19-year-old further strengthened his credentials by delivering a classy half-century for the Prime Minister’s XI against England in Canberra last month, holding his own against bowlers with Ashes experience.

With a calm batting style and natural leadership qualities, Peake is expected to anchor Australia’s campaign both tactically and with the bat.

While Peake is the only returning member from the victorious 2024 squad, Australia’s selection panel has backed a fresh crop of players capable of scripting another memorable run.
