Aakash Chopra has strongly criticized England head coach Brendon McCullum for his remarks following their eight-wicket defeat in the second Ashes Test in Brisbane. With England now trailing 0-2 in the five-match series, Chopra questioned the team management’s approach and preparation, calling it disrespectful to Test cricket.

Chopra pointed out that instead of participating in the two-day tour match against the Prime Minister’s XI, the core squad opted for extended rest, a decision he believes backfired.

“McCullum said the team was overprepared, and the cricketing world couldn’t believe it. A practice match was available, and you still skipped it. You go out, swing hard, lose one Test in two days and the next in four. Then you claim you were overprepared, how does that make sense? This is bordering on a mockery of Test cricket,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

England have suffered heavy defeats in both matches, with neither contest reaching the final day. The third Test begins on December 17 in Adelaide, where England will be under intense scrutiny as they search for a turnaround. Notably, the Three Lions haven’t won a Test in Australia since the 2010–11 tour, a drought that now stretches over a decade.
