New Delhi: In view of the increased passenger rush on various routes due to winter weather and cancellation of a large number of flights, Indian Railways has announced to run 89 special train services (including more than 100 trips) for the next three days.
The Railway Ministry said in a statement on Saturday that the objective of these special services is to ensure smooth travel and adequate connectivity between the major cities of the country including Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Howrah, Hyderabad and other metros. Railways has informed that Northern Railway will also operate 6 additional trips between Delhi-Mumbai.
Central Railway is running 14 special trains, which include services operating between Pune–Bengaluru, Pune–Hazrat Nizamuddin, LTT–Madgaon, CSMT–Nizamuddin, LTT–Lucknow, Nagpur–CSMT, Gorakhpur–LTT and Bilaspur–LTT on various dates. All these trains are being run between 6th to 12th December in view of the additional demand of passengers.
Special trains are being operated between Santragachi–Yelahanka, Howrah–CSMT and Cherlapalli–Shalimar under South Eastern Railway. This step has been taken with the aim of reducing the increased travel pressure after the recent cancellation of flights. Among these, Santragachi-Yelahanka special will run on 7th and 9th December, while Howrah-CSMT special will run on 6th and 8th December. Cherlapalli–Shalimar special is also being operated on 6th and 8th December.
South Central Railway has run three special trains Cherlapalli–Shalimar, Secunderabad–Chennai Egmore and Hyderabad–LTT on 6 December. Similarly, Eastern Railway has run special services between Howrah-New Delhi and Sealdah-LTT, the return journeys of which will be on 8th and 9th December.
Western Railway is operating seven special trains, which include Mumbai Central–Bhiwani Superfast Special and Mumbai Central–Shakur Basti Superfast Special. Apart from this, Bandra Terminus – Durgapura Superfast Special will run on 7th and 8th December. Booking for these services has started from 6th December.
In view of the increasing demand of passengers from Gorakhpur region also, special trips have been announced between Gorakhpur-Anand Vihar Terminal and Gorakhpur-LTT from 7th to 9th December. Similarly, East Central Railway is running many special trains from Patna and Darbhanga to Anand Vihar Terminal. These include Patna–Anand Vihar Terminal (6–9 December) and Darbhanga–Anand Vihar Terminal (7–9 December).
North Western Railway is running one trip special fare special trains each between Hisar–Khadki and Durgapura–Bandra Terminus on December 7 and 8. Meanwhile, North Central Railway is operating several special services between Prayagraj-New Delhi from 6 to 9 December, which include 02417/02418 and 02275/02276.
Northern Railway is also running New Delhi–Udhampur Vande Bharat Express on 6 December. Delhi-Mumbai Central Special train will run on 6th December and the return service will run on 7th December. Hazrat Nizamuddin-Thiruvananthapuram special train is also operating today on 6th December. Apart from this, 07703 Chalipalli – Jalimar special will run on 7th December.
For Chhattisgarh region, one special train each will be run between Durg-Hazrat Nizamuddin on 7th and 8th December.
The Railway Ministry says that according to the travel demand, more special trains can be run in the coming days so that the passengers do not face any kind of inconvenience.
