Indian cricket legends Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli play only in ODI format for Team India, as both the players have retired from T20I as well as Test cricket. Recently both these players were seen playing in the India-South Africa ODI series. Both the players performed brilliantly in this ODI series and now the fans are eagerly waiting for their next match. But the biggest question is that when will Rohit-Virat return to the field?
Indian cricket fans will not have to wait much to see Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in blue jersey this time.
In fact, at the beginning of the new year, both the superstars will again play for Team India. The Indian team will play a three-match home ODI series against New Zealand in January 2026, which will start on January 11 in Vadodara. It is almost certain that Rohit and Virat will play in this series. But before that, both the legends can be seen gaining momentum in domestic cricket. Both senior players can participate in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (List-A tournament) which will run from 24 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.
Virat Kohli has already informed Delhi Cricket Association about his availability, while Rohit Sharma is also fully prepared to be a part of the Mumbai team. Playing in domestic tournaments will be beneficial for both. Vijay Hazare Trophy will provide an excellent opportunity for match practice and maintaining form.Virat played the last Virat Vijay Hazare Trophy match 16 years ago in 2010. Virat has played 13 matches for Delhi in Vijay Hazare Trophy from 2008 to 2010 and scored a total of 819 runs, which includes 4 centuries.
Now he is going to be seen in this tournament after years. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma last played in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018 on 17 October. In such a situation, this tournament will be special for Rohit also.
