Ben Stokes Run Out: England captain Ben Stokes is leading his team for the first time in the Ashes series in Australia. But the beginning of this tour has not been good at all for him. In the first test match itself, his team had to face a shameful defeat in just 2 days. In that, Stokes himself could not show any magic with his bat. The English captain's similar performance in batting continued in the second Test also and this time he took such a suicidal step, which increased England's problems.

Stokes was run out on the very first day of the Gabba Test match and thus such an accident happened to an English captain after 63 years.

The second Test match of the Ashes series between Australia and England started from November 4 at the Gabba ground in Brisbane. In this day-night match, England had lost 2 wickets till the third over itself, when once again left arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc wreaked havoc with the pink ball. But after this Jack Crawley scored an aggressive half-century. From the other side, Joe Root also took charge and kept taking the innings forward.

Stokes took suicidal steps

After England fell by 4 wickets, captain Ben Stokes came to the crease and took up the partnership with Root. Both of them took the team beyond 200 runs. Just when their partnership seemed to be getting established, Stokes got himself harmed. Playing Brandon Doggett's ball towards backward point, he ran for a run, whereas Root was not ready for this and refused to run. But by then Stokes had gone far ahead. In such a situation, substitute fielder Josh English came quickly, caught the ball and hit the stumps accurately. Replays clearly showed that that run was dangerous and Stokes was punished for his mistake.

Out like this after 63 years

Stokes was run out on the score of just 19 and thus England suffered its fifth blow. Stokes got very angry at his mistake and was seen cursing himself. With this, after 63 years in the history of Ashes, an English captain had to lose his wicket by being run out in Australia. Before Stokes, in 1962, England captain Ted Dexter was run out in the Ashes Test on Australian soil.

This is only the fifth time that an England captain has been run out in an Ashes Test in Australia. Before Stokes and Dexter, Frederick Fane (1908) and Archie MacLaren (twice in 1902) were run out.
