The toss remains a key factor due to the dew that could aid the side winning it. India’s streak of 20 straight toss losses is continuing, and a defeat in Vizag would hand South Africa victories in both the Test and ODI series.
Temba Bavuma’s South Africa produced a stunning run chase to level the three-match ODI series against India 1-1. Chasing a daunting 359, Aiden Markram’s century anchored the innings while contributions from the middle order sealed a remarkable victory. The Indian bowlers struggled to contain the onslaught, hampered further by heavy dew on the outfield.
“Not really. With so much dew and the challenges of bowling in the second innings, the umpires were kind to allow a ball change. The toss is extremely important, and I’m disappointed we lost it. There were definitely areas where we could have performed better,” India captain KL Rahul said after the match.
India needed a win to secure the series before the final game, but South Africa’s comeback has set up a thrilling decider. The team winning the third ODI will seal the series by a 2-1 margin.
The ODI series between India and South Africa will be settled in the third and final game on Saturday, December 6. Vizag will host the clash, with the toss scheduled at 1:00 PM IST, and the first ball will be bowled at 1:30 PM IST.
The toss remains a key factor due to the dew that could aid the side winning it. India’s streak of 20 straight toss losses is continuing, and a defeat in Vizag would hand South Africa victories in both the Test and ODI series. The visitors had earlier pulled off a stunning 2-0 sweep in the Tests.
India will be desperate to win the ODI series, as the five-match T20I series will be played immediately after the third ODI.
Shubman Gill, who leads India in Tests and ODIs, is named in the T20I squad and may return if fully fit. The star batter has been out of the ongoing ODI series due to a neck injury picked up in the first Test.
