Rohit Sharma ready to play in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Rohit Sharma had announced his retirement from T20 International as soon as he won the T20 World Cup 2024 title. But, now he has decided to play in the domestic T20 tournament. Times of India reports that Rohit Sharma has expressed his desire to play in the knock-out match of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He is ready to play in this tournament to be played in T20 format.
The knock out matches of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy are to be played between 12th to 18th December. The Mumbai team has performed well in the league stage and won all its matches so far. In such a situation, he is certain to play knockout, where he may also be seen getting the services of Rohit Sharma.
Rohit Sharma is currently playing in the ODI series against South Africa. The ODI series ends on December 6, after which Rohit will be available to play in the knockout matches for Mumbai.
Times of India has also shared this information quoting sources of Mumbai Cricket Association. Mumbai Cricket Association sources told TOI that Rohit Sharma has expressed his desire to play for Mumbai in the knock-out matches of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Earlier this year, BCCI also made a rule that players who are not on national duty or who are not injured, will play in domestic cricket. Under that rule, Rohit Sharma is eligible to play in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Rohit has not retired from the domestic T20 tournament. This step of Rohit is also very important from the point of view of his mission to play in the 2027 World Cup.
