India pacer Renuka Singh Thakur has been signed by Gujarat Giants for Rs 60. lakh at the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction in New Delhi.

Renuka was one of the two Indian players among the eight listed in the marquee set that opened the bidding at the WPL 2026 auction.

Renuka, who won the WPL title with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2024, was also part of the India side that lifted the 2025 ODI World Cup. She finished with three wickets in six matches during the campaign.

Renuka’s rise has been built on sustained domestic dominance and timely international impact. She was India’s leading wicket-taker at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham with 11 wickets, including two four-wicket hauls. One of those came against eventual champions Australia in the group stage.

The right-arm seamer then etched her name into the record books at the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa, claiming her maiden five-wicket haul in T20Is against England at Gqeberha. Her spell of 5/15 remains one of the finest by an Indian at the tournament.

With that performance, Renuka became the first Indian, male or female, to register a five-wicket haul in the history of the T20 World Cup.
