Virat Kohli has decided not to play in a domestic tournament starting from 24 December 2025. Earlier it was claimed that he can make a comeback in this tournament after 16 years and can be seen playing some matches.

According to a report, Kohli is in no mood to participate in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. This tournament is mandatory for all Indian players, but Kohli has decided not to participate in it. BCCI wants India's Rohit and Virat to be a part of domestic cricket and play in the 2025-26 edition of Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, Virat is not seen in this mood.According to the report of NDTV, Rohit Sharma has confirmed his participation in this tournament, due to which it has become more difficult for BCCI to give any special exemption to Kohli.
A source told NDTV, 'The issue is about Vijay Hazare Trophy. Kohli doesn't want to play. When Rohit is also playing, how can there be leeway for any one player? And what should we tell other players? That player is different from all of you?Virat played the last Virat Vijay Hazare Trophy match 16 years ago in 2010. Virat has played 13 matches for Delhi in Vijay Hazare Trophy from 2008 to 2010 and scored a total of 819 runs, which includes 4 centuries.
However, he did make a comeback in the Ranji Trophy last season, playing a match for Delhi.
