Former Australia and Delhi Capitals captain Meg Lanning was signed for Rs. 1.90 crore by UP Warriorz at the WPL 2026 Auction in New Delhi on Thursday.

The bidding opened at Rs. 50 lakh, with Delhi Capitals raising the paddle first before UP Warriorz entered the fray. A swift two-team tussle followed, and the price soon crossed the Rs. 1 crore mark. Capitals raised the bid to Rs 1.6 crore, Warriorz came back in with Rs 1.7 crore before sealing the deal at Rs 1.9 crore. She had been signed for Rs. 1.1 crore in WPL 2023.

Released by Delhi Capitals ahead of the mega auction, Lanning had led the franchise to the WPL final in all three previous seasons but fell short of lifting the title on each occasion.

Across 27 matches in the tournament so far, Lanning has amassed 952 runs. Her highest WPL score remains the 92 she struck during the 2025 season against Gujarat Giants.
