NEW DELHI: The cricketing world was abuzz with excitement as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli made a striking return in the ODI series against South Africa.
After speculation over their longevity and fears of declining form ahead of the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup, both players silenced doubts with confident performances.
Former Indian pacer S. Sreesanth joined the conversation during the Abu Dhabi T10 league, urging the team management to continue backing the veterans.
“Roko ko mat roko (don’t stop Rohit and Kohli). I will just suggest to Gautam Gambhir that he shouldn’t stop Rohit and Virat at all. Until they want to feature in the ODI series, they should keep on playing. Because they are a thousand times better than the ones currently playing. So all the best to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. They are brilliant players,” Sreesanth said.
Sreesanth’s comments underline the respect and admiration these two stalwarts command, not just among fans but within the cricketing fraternity.
In a match that captured fans’ attention, Rohit and Kohli put together a sensational 100-plus run partnership. Kohli reached a brilliant century while Rohit displayed aggressive intent, scoring a lively half-century. Their performance not only reinforced their class but also reassured fans that the Indian batting backbone remains in capable hands.
