Delhi: In the India vs South Africa ODI played in Ranchi on Sunday, Virat Kohli made the entire nation rejoice by scoring a brilliant 52nd ODI century. Now another good news has come for Indian cricket fans.
India’s Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill has finally reached BCCI’s Center of Excellence (CoE) and has started his recovery. He already had a neck injury, which worsened during the Kolkata Test.According to the report of Times of India, Gill is now taking advice from BCCI doctors and medical team in Bengaluru. He has taken several flights in the last week, but there has been no major problem with his neck. With this, Team India hopes that we can soon see Gill playing in India vs South Africa T20 matches.
The neck injury suffered by Gill in Kolkata looked serious from the very beginning and every update was showing the same.
Gill left the game due to pain after just three balls and went to the hospital. He is a very valuable player for the team and leads in both the formats. Therefore, it was believed that he should not be put at risk any time soon.Gill was also seen wearing a neck brace in the hospital. Despite this, he traveled to Guwahati with the team. He was replaced by Nitish Kumar Reddy for the second Test and Gill was also left out of the ongoing India vs South Africa ODI series.
An official told TOI, “There is no major threat right now. Gill has taken several flights. From Kolkata to Guwahati, from Guwahati to Mumbai, from Mumbai to Chandigarh and now from Chandigarh to Bengaluru, and he has not faced any inconvenience. Right now every effort is being made to field him only after he is fully prepared. Gill is an important player and everyone wants him to be fully fit and come back to the team.”
India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel also said, “It would be good to get an update from the medical team. I spoke to Shubman two days ago, and he is making a good recovery.
Glad to know.”It is noteworthy that a 5-match T20 series is to be played between India and South Africa, the first match of which will be played in Cuttack on 9th December.
