Virat Kohli can make many special records in his name in the ODI series between India and South Africa. Be it the record of playing most number of matches with Rohit or scoring most centuries in one format, Kohli is just a few runs and innings away from many big milestones.
Delhi: After the India vs South Africa Test series, both the teams are to play a 3-match ODI series. The first match of the series will be played in Ranchi on 30 November. In this series, India’s legendary batsman Virat Kohli is close to making many big records in his name.
Rohit Sharma is also in the team along with Virat Kohli. Ranchi’s One Day International will be their 392nd match together in one team and a new record will be created. At present, with 391 matches, this pair is equal to Sachin Tendulkar-Rahul Dravid. By the way, if Ravindra Jadeja also plays in this match, then Virat Kohli will play the 310th match with him.
At present, Virat in ODI and Sachin Tendulkar in Test have scored equal 51 out of 100. Just need one more 100 for highest 100 in a format.
By scoring 327 runs in this series, he will get the record of fastest 28000 runs in international cricket. By the way, if he scores 344 runs, he will come at number 2 in the list of most runs in international cricket (surpassing Kumar Sangakkara’s 28016).
At present, he has 5 scores in ODI against South Africa which are 100 and equal to David Warner and Sachin Tendulkar. With another 100, he will have the record of most 100 against this team.
If he makes one more score of 50+, he will surpass Sachin Tendulkar (13) in the record of highest 50+ score by an Indian against South Africa and if he makes two scores, he will surpass Rahul Dravid (14) and come on top.
By scoring just 14 more runs in a match that India won in this series, he would become the first Indian batsman to score 1000 runs in a winning match against South Africa and the third overall.
By scoring just 16 more runs, he will become the highest run scorer in One Day International against SENA teams.
If they make a 100-run partnership with Rohit Sharma, then it will be the 20th partnership between these two in One Day International and will be equal to the record of Kumar Sangakkara-Tilakratne Dilshan.
If 64 more runs are scored in the series then the two teams will complete 10000 runs in the series – currently at 9936 runs in 196 innings.
