Australian allrounder Grace Harris split the webbing on her left hand while bowling in a Women’s Big Bash League game between Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers on Sunday.
While defending 149, Harris — who finished as the pick of the bowlers for the Heat with two wickets for 28 runs in her four-over quota — took a hit from the seam to her left hand, splitting her webbing.
She promptly told the umpire, “It’s my non-bowling hand. So I can tape it up,” as she called the physio for a spot fix.
“I just need to tape it up and I can keep bowling. It’s no big deal. We’ll just get blood on the ball. We can stitch it up later,” she said, leaving commentators tickled.
She eventually got three stitches on the hand – an update she gave on her Instagram stories later in the day.
It brought back memories of another viral moment from last season where Harris, with a broken bat, said ‘Stuff it, I’ll hit it anyway,” and proceeded to do just that, muscling the ball with a severed bat past the midwicket fence for six.
Harris, who missed the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 in India and Sri Lanka due to calf strain, is headed back to the country for the 2026 edition of the Women’s Premier League. After representing UP Warriorz for three seasons, she is set to don the red, black and gold of Royal Challengers Bengaluru after being roped in by the team for INR 75 Lakh during the accelerated round of the mega auction a few days ago.
