Yes, that is what has happened. Andre Russell shared a video from his official Instagram account on Sunday, November 30 in which he was seen announcing his IPL retirement. “I’m hanging up my IPL boots, but not my swagger. Here’s what my IPL journey has been – memories of 12 seasons, and lots of love from the KKR family,” he said.

He further wrote, “I will still keep hitting sixes and taking wickets in every league around the world and the best part? I am not leaving home. You will see me in a new role in the KKR support staff as the Power Coach in 2026. New chapter, same energy. A knight forever.”

It is noteworthy that 37 year old Andre Russell will be the first power coach in the history of IPL. The IPL tournament is considered to be the toughest T20 league in the world, in which 18 seasons have been played so far, but till date no team has included a power coach in its sports staff.

If we talk about Andre Russell’s IPL career, he has been playing this tournament since 2012, during which he is playing for Delhi Daredevils (Delhi Capitals) and was a part of Kolkata Knight Riders. In this tournament, he played a total of 140 matches and took 2651 runs and 123 wickets in his name. If we make a list of the biggest match winners of KKR’s IPL, Andre Russell will be among the top players in it.
