Delhi: Mumbai’s young batsman Ayush Mhatre continues to perform brilliantly in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26. Ayush, who first came into limelight by scoring unbeaten 110 runs in 53 balls against Vidarbha, now caught everyone’s attention by scoring a century against Andhra also. This 18 year old player scored his second consecutive T20 century and gave Mumbai an easy victory.

Mumbai won with Ayush’s century

Mumbai won the toss and chose to bowl first at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Andhra scored 159 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, but Ayush Mhatre’s attack from the very beginning was so intense that the match soon became one-sided. Mumbai scored 162 runs in just 15.2 overs and won easily by 9 wickets.

Chasing the target of 160 runs, Ayush scored unbeaten 104 runs in 58 balls. His innings included 5 fours and 9 sixes. He dominated the bowlers from the very beginning and did not lose his rhythm at any point. Even after Ajinkya Rahane’s early dismissal, he handled the batting with responsibility and completely turned the match in Mumbai’s favor.

Had scored a century against Vidarbha also

Earlier, against Vidarbha, Ayush had scored unbeaten 110 runs, in which he hit 8 fours and 8 sixes. After scoring centuries in two consecutive matches, Mhatre has now become one of the most talked about players of this tournament. His batting has also made it clear that he can become a big name in the future.

Suryakumar Yadav also made an important contribution in Mumbai’s victory and along with Ayush, scored 31 runs and took the team to the target.

This streak of two consecutive centuries by Ayush Mhatre is a great news for CSK and if he continues playing like this, similar explosive innings can be expected from him in IPL 2026 also.
