NEW DELHI: Rohit Sharma opened up about his mindset and approach to the game, revealing that his drive and determination have remained unchanged since he started playing at the age of 20.

“The mindset to come out and do well, giving your best, whatever you have inside you, remains the same,” he said in a video posted by BCCI ahead of the first ODI against South Africa in Ranchi on Sunday, emphasizing the consistency in his hunger for success.

The former India captain also spoke about the unique challenge of ODI cricket, calling it a blend of Test and T20 formats.

“ODI cricket is a mixture of Tests and T20s – you need to be skillful enough to handle both skill sets. Especially for me, as an opener, when the ball is new and swinging, you need to bring the Test cricket mindset, play close to the body,” Rohit explained.

He added that age is never a barrier when representing the country. “It doesn’t matter whether you are 28 or 38 – every time you come out and represent your country, the drive and willingness is always there,” he said, underlining his enduring passion for the game.
