The 17th season of the Indian Premier League has witnessed a surge in team totals. The batters are going for big shots in the death overs. MS Dhoni, the former Chennai Super Kings’ captain, has been going after bowlers in the death overs. Although MSD is coming out to bat for a few deliveries, he is troubling the rival teams.
The fast bowlers are finding it hard to maintain their line and length, often bowling wide balls due to pressure. In the latest match between CSK and PBKS, Arshdeep Singh conceded a lot of extra runs.
Former India player Ajay Jadeja spoke about Dhoni’s presence at the crease.
“The fast bowlers start sweating when they see MS Dhoni coming out of the dressing room to face them. His presence is enough to put them under pressure, and they end up bowling loose balls.
“Dhoni is smart enough to take advantage of the situation and this is where he hits big shots. The bowlers bowl to his liking and preferred areas and the ball keep flying into the stands,” he said on JioCinema.
Dhoni is playing freely in IPL 2024, having left the captaincy before the start of the season. He gave the captain’s armband to Ruturaj Gaikwad.
