Brett Lee has voiced serious concerns about Mayank Yadav’s recurring injury, placing the blame on LSG’s team management (KL Rahul and Justin Langer) for the fast bowler’s fitness struggles. Lee emphasized the risks of pushing one’s body to its limits, especially for a pace bowler like Yadav who regularly exceeds 150 kmph.
In Yadav’s comeback match, he had to leave the field before finishing his fourth over, mirroring the issue that had sidelined him for over three weeks. The Giants coach Justin Langer noted Yadav is still experiencing discomfort in the same area, signaling ongoing fitness issues. Despite returning against MI, Yadav was again unable to bowl his full quota, raising further questions about his fitness and the management’s injury prevention strategies.
“A side strain typically takes at least four to six weeks to heal properly. The severity of Yadav’s strain is unclear. For a fast bowler who consistently bowls at 150 kmph, rushing back from injury too soon reflects poorly on the leadership and medical staff of the Lucknow Super Giants. Getting injured in his first game back from a side strain indicates inadequate recovery time and injury management,” Brett Lee said.
Mayank Yadav’s setback in his first match after injury raises concerns not just about his availability for the rest of the IPL season. Brett Lee expressed sympathy for the young pacer, stressing the need for proper guidance and injury prevention to avoid such setbacks in the future.
“Poor Mayank is the sole person burdened by this issue. The entire audience has enjoyed watching him play, I only hope he receives proper mentorship to guide him through this tough time,” he stated.
“It appears he’s injured in the same area,” Langer said after the match. “His rehabilitation has gone perfectly. He’s bowled pain-free for the past week and looked to be in excellent condition.”
Mayank, who scalped 1 for 31 in 3.1 overs on Tuesday, made a terrific start to IPL 2024, taking six wickets in his first three matches before he was ruled out.
